Following the death of congressional Democrats’ epic failure of a second attempt at the impeachment of President Donald Trump, the former president’s supporters are left wondering what comes next for the man they believe should still be in the Oval Office.
While his second term is not entirely ruled out, as he could run again in 2024, it also seems unlikely that the patriarch of the Trump family, who will be by then closing in on 80-years-old, would want to take a second run at a four-year presidential term at that point.
The media has come up with a plethora of reasons why the former president shouldn’t be allowed in public office, and the impeachment would have solidified that wish. However, according to The Sun, UK, an international news publication, had maybe telling Americans what domestic news sources are unwilling to say; that Trump still has big plans for the GOP.
“Now acquitted in his second Senate impeachment trial, Trump is preparing for the next phase of his post-presidency life, according to the Associated Press,” The Sun teased readers.
“Feeling emboldened by the trial’s outcome, he is expected to reemerge from a self-imposed hibernation at his club in Palm Beach, Florida, and is eyeing ways to reassert his power.”
According to the publication noted that president is still very popular among many voters, he’s not so popular among republicans working in politics. This raises questions among those who believe that the lawmakers in Washington are there to enact the will of their constituents.
However, according to the publication, Trump will be left confronting the Republican party, one that many believe he divided, with his unorthodox version of politics. How exactly he will confront them remains to be seen, however, it’s clear that he remains bent on making himself again available to the people who elected him (some believe twice) and will make sure the Republicans who turned their backs on him pay the price for supporting President Joe Biden.
“I imagine you’ll probably be hearing a lot more from him in the coming days,” senior adviser Jason Miller said.
After the vote to acquit the president, Trump offered some clues as to what he was planning, according to the publication, when he said that his movement “has only just begun.”
“In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people,” he said. Additionally, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsay Graham (R-SC) spoke with the former president on Saturday night shortly after the vote and said that he believed Trump is “mad at some folks” but also “ready to move on and rebuild the Republican Party” and “excited about 2022.”
According to a report, Trump may not be alone in his pursuit of payback for the lawmakers who have stabbed their own party and constituents in the back for not supporting the party leader.
There is a petition to censure Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is making the rounds among Utah Republicans. The petition reportedly slams Romney for “embarrassing the state of Utah” and says that he “appears to be an agent for the Establishment Deep State.”

It is also a fact that a majority of Utahns are not Trump supporters so, by voting with the Democrats, Romney could reasonably say he was representing his constituents,” Ott wrote, setting up his argument. “So why did Sen. Mike Lee not vote with the Democrats as well?”
