Biden Plans To Dramatically Increase Refugee Admissions Even in the Midst of Historic Border Crisis

Even though there is a growing crisis at the border, President Joe Biden is apparently planning to double the number of refugees admitted into the United States. It is hard to imagine the impact this may have on the national security and humanitarian crisis that has become an issue on the southern border during the present White House administration.

The State Department revealed in a press release that Biden’s administration “recommends an increase in the refugee admissions targets from 62,500 in the Fiscal Year 2021 to 125,000 in the Fiscal Year 2022 to address needs generated by humanitarian crises around the globe.”

State Department spokesman Ned Price said Monday that Secretary of State Antony Blinken looks forward to “a meaningful exchange with Members of Congress” on the administration’s proposed cap.

The State Department continued to say that a “robust” refugee admissions program was critical to the U.S. foreign policy interests and national security objectives. They also said it was a reflection of core American values. They touted their leadership around the globe in refugee resettlement and described the work that the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) does to reflects our tradition as a nation that has long welcomed immigrants and refugees.

The statement also pointed to their ongoing and enduring expression of their commitment to international humanitarian principles and how they reflect the best of America’s values and compassion.

But this is the same administration that warned Cubans who were hoping to make a sea voyage to the U.S. in an attempt to flee the oppressive communist regime, “if you take to the Sea, you will not come to the United States.”

This announcement of an increase in the number of refugees allowed to come happened as the country faces a historic crisis on the southern border. There are literally hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens pouring into border states every month.

Biden’s administration is facing an additional crisis on the border as thousands of Haitians have illegally entered the U.S. in the small Texas border town of Del Rio. They came in a matter of just a few days. What is happening in Del Rio is so bad that Rep. Tony Gonzalez (R-TX) indicated that there have been footage shortages at local grocery stores.

This recent crisis in Del Rio comes on the heels of back-to-back months of Border Patrol recording over 200,000 apprehensions of illegal aliens on the U.S. southern border.

It was reported on CNN earlier this year that the U.S. was near to having made contact with a record 2 million illegal aliens on the southern border. This is a number greater than the populations of Alaska, Wyoming, and Vermont combined.

Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) recently spoke with Fox News saying, “Speaking to Border Patrol agents, the worst is yet to come; they’re worried about what is behind here; they’re worried about coordination with Mexico. It’s worse than you could imagine.”

Pfluger continued to share concerns about the security situation on the border. He told the network that a majority of the roughly 15,000 illegal aliens were military-age males.

He said, “If they decided to riot or if unrest happened, it would be a terrible situation. It is ripe. It is 100 degrees outside right now and you literally have 14,878 people here — this is how serious the situation is.”

It is not just people coming from the south of the border. The new proposed increase comes as the U.S. works to process thousands of
